Nearby are former Kansas
cornfields, now being developed into houses. The other day, our dog KC, sniffed
in the bushes in our front yard and bit something, which screeched in pain. I
jerked her leash to prevent her from eating it and she flipped it over onto the
porch. It was a baby hare – there was a nest in the day-lily bushes, next to
the curry plant. (In the photo, I put stones over it)

There
are about 7 of them in the nest. But we want them to grow up and go away. I
have planted eggplant (Brinjal), which is more expensive than meat over here
(at least 3 times the price of chicken) and I don’t want them to eat up my
plants.

The mother hare ate up my
eggplant and some of My wife's flowers, down to the ground. The hares either left
or were eaten up by a cat I saw nearby one day.
I shall stop now, with love,
